DADALOUNGE
Dada Lounge specialises in pop-up experimental spaces. Building on the success of last year's event at the Barnoon Workshop, Dada Lounge has curated an exhibition featuring a collective created especially for this occasion, named the Big Cellar Collective.
The Big Cellar Collective exhibition will be open to the public from Saturday, 16th September, to Friday, 22nd September, between 10 am and 10 pm. We have selected the iconic large Cellar 1 below Porthmeor Studios as the venue for this remarkable event, aiming to revive the sense of community between artists and fishermen that has dwindled in recent years, due to the overwhelming impact of the tourist industry. Our primary goal is to craft an immersive and unforgettable experience for visitors by seamlessly integrating mesmerising soundscapes and ambient music into the exhibition. These sessions will elevate the overall atmosphere, allowing visitors to deeply engage with the artwork and embark on a distinctive sensory journey. This event will also assist the local fishermen in raising funds to cover the exorbitant overhead costs of the cellar. Throughout this week, in addition to hosting an artist-led exhibition, we will be organising a series of 'pay what you can' events. These events will include Spoken Word performances and ambient live music sessions, complemented by a licensed bar. |

GREY LIGHTFOOT in
‘A BARBARIAN AT THE GATE’
Poetry performance
Back in the 50s and the 60s, the working class voice was beginning to be heard at last. Films like ‘A Taste of Honey’ and ‘Saturday Night, Sunday Morning’ as well as the soap ‘Coronation Street’ were the creations of good working class writers. The parochial accent pushed its way onto cinema and TV screens. Gray’s poems both celebrate the working class voice and despair at its gradual disappearance today and anyone familiar with his style will know they will leave with a smile on their face.” |
Pete the Temp & Emmy the Harp Monday 18 @8pm
A funny and engaging collision of harp and vocals. The show dives into themes of madness, philosophy and the Mind, with the help of loop machines, synthesizers and FX machinery. The result is a uniquely poetic and songful carnival of vibes. Expect a one-of-a-kind act of rapture. Laugh, sing and prepare to be enchanted. ‘Fresh, empowering and fun’ (Shambala Festival) ‘Nuts, sublimely nuts’ (Green Gathering) |
Tuesday 19 @ 7.30
Freshly from the vibrant action of the Norway Sq the chance to see two completely different performers working on a setting longer than the usual 10 minutes of an open mic. Evelyn will introduce some new material and George will as usual surprise the audience opening his cabinet of poetic curiosities. |

This session will be a complete surprise, including for Bobby Wotnot that will unroll a carpet of sounds and invite voices and other instruments present in the room, to join in in a sublime jambient session that will bring us gently into the beginning of autumn.
The session will be recorded and used in the future for further development that will be promptly available to download from the Dada Lounge Bandcamp Page. |
Friday 22 @ 7.30Another evening of surprises. In this occasion Steve Slimm will appear on the stage floor wearing the poet hat, and this is a complete exclusive for Dada Lounge. He will present a new work called "Beyond The Reach Of The City" - an esoteric journey in words and sound.
Kerry Tomlins, always a very accomplished presence will be experimenting with some new sounds. Expect literary gorgeousness and theatrical wizardry. |
